A child’s cancer diagnosis impacts more than just the patient, it affects their family, friends, classmates, and entire community. Often, teachers and school administrators are among the first to learn when a student is diagnosed with cancer. They witness the challenges a child faces, from missing extended periods of school to experiencing changes like hair loss during treatment.
Jay’s HOPE Foundation created Hats 4 HOPE to help schools support classmates in the community battling cancer while raising awareness and providing hope to local childhood cancer families.
How Hats 4 HOPE Works
Participating schools choose a special day to host their Hats 4 HOPE fundraiser. On that day:
🧢 Students donate $1 to Jay’s HOPE Foundation.
🧢 Students and staff are invited to wear a hat to school as a symbol of support for children fighting cancer.
🧢 Every dollar raised helps provide vital resources and services to local childhood cancer families throughout Georgia.
It’s a simple act that creates a powerful message: children fighting cancer are not alone.
More Than Just Wearing a Hat
Hats 4 HOPE is an opportunity to start important conversations in the classroom and help students better understand the journey of a child with cancer.
It helps answer questions like:
- Why did my classmate lose their hair?
- Why are they missing school for treatments?
- How can I show support?
By participating, students learn compassion, kindness, and the importance of standing beside others during difficult times.
Your Support Makes a Difference
